The Town Centre First proposal provides a coordinated vision for the future regeneration of Athenry by bringing together existing and emerging projects into a single, cohesive framework. Led by the Athenry Town Team in collaboration with Galway County Council, the proposal focuses on creating a vibrant, accessible, and resilient town centre that enhances public spaces, strengthens connections, and supports local businesses and community life. Building on Athenry's exceptional medieval heritage and historic streetscape, the strategy seeks to celebrate the town's unique identity while delivering high-quality public realm improvements that encourage sustainable growth, tourism, and everyday use of the town centre.
