Project Details:
Castle Street occupies a central position within Roscrea town centre, forming an important link between Main Street and Church Street. Framed by the historic setting of Roscrea Castle, Damer House and Gardens, the street has the potential to become a vibrant civic space that celebrates the town's heritage while supporting everyday community life.
The proposal seeks to transform Castle Street from a vehicle-dominated thoroughfare into a pedestrian-focused public space that is welcoming, accessible and multifunctional. High-quality paving, landscaping, seating, planting and sustainable drainage features will enhance the streetscape, while creating an attractive setting for local businesses, community gatherings, markets and seasonal events. The design also strengthens the connection between the town centre and its key heritage assets, creating a lively and flexible public realm that supports both residents and visitors while maintaining essential access for servicing and local traffic.
