The Killala town strategy is guided by a shared community vision to create a vibrant, resilient and welcoming coastal town that celebrates its exceptional heritage while embracing future opportunities. Building upon Killala's rich maritime history, unique natural environment and strong sense of community, the strategy seeks to deliver a town centre that is durable yet flexible, capable of adapting to changing social, economic and environmental needs.
Through high-quality public realm improvements, enhanced pedestrian connections, attractive civic spaces and support for local businesses, the strategy aims to create a more accessible and sociable town where people can shop, eat, work, relax and gather. By strengthening links between the town centre, waterfront and surrounding landscape, while preserving its historic character, Killala will continue to welcome visitors, celebrate its traditions and create new opportunities for future generations. The vision is to foster a thriving, sustainable town centre that encourages longer visits, supports local enterprise and enhances the quality of life for both residents and visitors alike.
