The sensory garden propsal looks to restore the existing bog habitats by adjusting ground levels to allow the bog habitat species to move back in.
Where existing bog is in good condition these areas would remain undisturbed. Seed would be collected locally to resow on site. Walkways and standing areas would be created by elevating the ground above the footpaths and surfaced using a locally quaried gravel. Sensory elements of the landscape would be provided by the bog itself.
Carved stone insects, wind instruments, plants, moss and water would provide the basis of the sensory experiences.
Key views of and out from the visitor would be retained and reinforced including the views of the windturbines. Other features of the landscape can be softened through gentle mounding using excvavated material from habitat creation or transplanting native tree species on site.
